The Wall Painting in The Classroom
Runtime: 01:16
UE: You have also created a large wall painting in the exhibition. Can you tell us something about it?
KR: The wall painting is something very new, combining different elements. On one hand, it’s referring to the classroom, something which you as a pupil, student, teenager doing on the side of the notebook when you are get bored on the lesson. You’re drawing something, imagining something.
So basically, this idea is like it’s a kind of a window or daydreaming about the queer heroes that will make a revenge or help you to survive. And that’s the fantasy based on the “FAG fighters” character, the fictional gay gang that I started in 2007.
They are very present with their shiny pink masks, made originally by my grandma in 2007, and they are mixed with the mythological figures that are hybrids playing with gender and different aspects of sexuality.
And the style it imitates these marker drawings that are enlarged through acrylic paint on the wall, like kind of a big queer giant figure made them with huge markers directly on the wall.
