The exhibition “Mike Kelley: Ghost and Spirit” presents a comprehensive selection of the American artist Mike Kelley’s work, spanning from late 1970s performance pieces to large-scale installations from the 2000s.

Mike Kelley’s practice moves across a wide range of media and forms, where themes such as identity, memory, popular culture, and ideological structures recur with consistency and complexity.

In this introductory film curator Hendrik Folkerts offers insights into Mike Kelley’s artistic practice.

The film also highlights the exhibition architecture, designed by the Milan- and Amsterdam-based studio Formafantasma, whose spatial approach forms an integral part of the curatorial framing of the works.
