Narrator: Carsten Höller’s Stockholm Slides coil down the façade of Moderna Museet like two spiralling lines in the air. The form unites sculpture and movement, architecture and play. Höller uses the slide as a sculptural form, but also as a way to activate the audience. As we travel through the spirals, the work becomes a physical encounter – a whirling journey through fifteen metres of descent. Höller describes his works as “influential environments”: installations that evoke specific states of mind such as elation, disorientation, doubt, joy and fear – art that shifts our habitual perceptions of body and space. In Stockholm Slides, the façade itself becomes a sculpture shaped not only in metal, but also in our consciousness.
